Biography

Barry has practiced law in Richmond since 1987. His business and individual clients consider him a trusted and competent adviser. He is passionate about helping clients create an effective plan to achieve their personal and business objectives and supports them through its successful implementation.
He combines his extensive experience in corporate and business law; estate planning and administration; and real property transactions to provide comprehensive service to his clients.
Business clients enjoy working with Barry during times of stability and times of change. He assists business clients across the Lower Mainland with drafting and reviewing of various types of agreements including:
- Shareholder agreements
- Product distribution and licence agreements
- Commercial tenancy agreements
- Supplier contracts
He helps guide owners through the process of buying or selling of businesses, provides advice on appropriate business structures, and often works with his clients’ other professional advisers in doing so.
Barry is a listener and enjoys asking questions to get to the core of an issue. His demeanor with clients puts them at ease and has resulted in many loyal and long term clients; some of whom are inter-generational business owners dealing with succession planning and business ownership transitions.
Barry’s planning experience also includes preparing wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements for individuals and couples. He enjoys helping clients find planning solutions that fit their circumstances. He also advises executors, administrators and beneficiaries of estates on their obligations and rights. In conjunction with other professionals, he delivers public education seminars on estate planning issues to the Richmond Funeral Home.
Barry has Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Alberta.
He strongly believes in contributing to the community and is currently a director of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and has in the past been involved with the Richmond Community Hospice Foundation and Richmond Girls Soccer Association.
