Barry uses his experience in estate planning and administration, along with business and property transactions, to provide comprehensive service to his clients. He is passionate about helping clients create effective plans to achieve their personal and business objectives and supports them through the successful implementation of those plans.
Barry works with his clients to find estate and succession planning solutions that fit their circumstances. While estate planning usually involves preparing wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, or advance directives for individuals and couples, it can include more straight-forward, and in some cases more sophisticated, planning tools. Barry listens and enjoys asking questions to get to the core of his client’s concerns, ensuring that the appropriate tools are identified and applied.
In addition to planning, Barry also advises executors, corporate trustees, estate administrators, and beneficiaries of estates on their obligations and rights. He and his support staff work with their clients to simplify what may be, for many, a difficult and emotional experience.
Barry’s business clients consider him a trusted and competent adviser. His demeanour with clients puts them at ease and has resulted in many loyal and long term clients; some of whom are inter-generational business owners dealing with succession planning and business ownership transitions.
Business clients enjoy working with Barry during times of stability, as well as times of change. He provides advice to business owners throughout the Lower Mainland on appropriate business structures and guides them through transactions involving their business (buying or selling of businesses, negotiating commercial leases, drafting operational agreements). He often works with his clients’ other professional advisers in doing so.
Born and educated in Alberta, Barry holds degrees in both Business and Law from the University of Alberta.
Barry strongly believes in contributing to his community. He is currently a director of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and has in the past been on the boards of other Richmond based non-profit organizations.
